The Department of Neurosurgery seeks a highly motivated and initiative-driven Operations Specialist to contribute to the continued growth and development of the critical service UNM Neurosurgery provides for New Mexico.
This position will partner with the Department Administrator to carry out the goals of the department and the School of Medicine, while collaborating with the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) and the University of New Mexico Medical Group (UNMMG).
A key function of the Operations Specialist is to oversee all aspects of department human resources management, including faculty hiring, promotion and tenure processes, and staff onboarding and offboarding. Additionally, the selected candidate should have a firm understanding of a clinical department and functionality, including the credentialing process. Lastly, this position will be responsible for some project management processes during an organizational change.
The successful incumbent may facilitate the coordination of academic, clinical, and educational activity across multiple organizational entities, requiring a familiarity with the policies and procedures of UNM, UNM Hospitals, and UNM Medical Group.

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
